Physicist Stephen Hawking is confined to a wheel chair, a virtual prisoner in his own body, but his intellect carries him into the far reaches of the universe. A victim of 'Lou Gehrig's Disease,' he is Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at Cambridge, and is pursuing a theory that will combine general relativity with the quantum theory.
