Feb 2002 Having ceded control of the main towns within their safe haven, the rebel fighters (FARC) continue to display their presence and power.Roadblocks are set up to control both the population and entice the government troops to engage them in combat. A lull in the firefight provides a brief window of safety in which the civilians rush to their vehicles.
