Japanese Socialist leader Inejiro Asanuma was assassinated by a dagger-wielding youth, Otoya Yamaguchi, during political rally at Tokyo's Hibiya Public Hall Oct. 12. Photographer tripped his camera shutter as the crazed student, who later killed himself, drew the foot-long blade from the politician's chest.
