Caption/Description

For a story on how proposed oil exploration in the Beaufort Sea, off Alaska's north coast, may affect the subsistence way of life for the Inupiat Eskimos of the North Slope region. For the Inupiat residents of Barrow and the other North Slope coastal communities, their culture, traditions and liveliehoods are centered around whaling and seasonal hunting which could be severely disrupted by a Prudhoe Bay-style oil development.
