Unicyclists ride up the rain-soaked 'Slick Rock' trail in Moab, Utah during the 8th annual Mountain Unicycling Festival. The three-day event drew more than 175 unicyclists - age 6 to 60 - from 21 states, four Canadian provinces and the United Kingdom, France, Denmark and Austria.
Mountain bikers at first kind of pooh-poohed us like it was kind of a joke, but when they stop and watch, they start to respect what it takes to ride a unicycle on challenging terrain like this, said Rolf Thompson, an engineer from Sandy, Utah who started the event in 2000.
