California Economy Crisis: James Jones tries to comfort his teary eyed girlfriend Beverly Burns in their van after they ate a free meal at St. Philomena in Sacramento. The homeless couple and their daughter have been living in the van for over a year. With homeless shelters overloaded Jones says they have to live in their vehicle. 'If we were alcoholics or drug addicts then there would be a program for us, but with this economy there is nothing,' said Jones. Jones and Burns are way to proud to beg on the streets so they collect cans and Jones does some construction work to survive. Photo taken Tuesday September 15, 2009.
