Caption/Description
Anne Kaplan, 95, of Nashua is shown the word 'SOFTLY,' written by in-home caregiver Ruth Marrazini, 84, of Wilmington, Mass., on a piece of paper who is hard of hearing March 8 at her home in Nashua. Marazzani has been taking care of Kaplan, for three months where she prepares meals, drives and helps Kaplan shop. She keeps a watchful eye in case of emergencies but Kaplan, with the early stages of Alzheimer's is pretty self-sufficient. Ruth and Anne were paired up because of their close age and personality type. 'I think with people like Anne and situations like that, I try very hard not to take away their independence,' Marrazini said. 'I allow them to make all the decisions that they're capable of and this is why she feels comfortable with me. I think, because she knows I respect her for the way she is.'
