With a baseball bat taken from a park where he was maintenance man, Robert C. Logan, 27, crushed Mrs. Adalyn Hixon's skull in an ambush robbery, he confessed to police who arrested him after an 80-mile-an-hour chase early Saturday morning, May 12, 1951. In the photo, Logan hides his face with his hand, unwilling to look at his victim.
