On the day of his recognition ceremony for completing plebe training Vince feels nauscous and tries to convince his mother once again to let him come home.

Vince is fitted for a uniform, even though he doesn't feel he'll make it through the required six weeks to be able to wear it.

Vince joined D Troop which was the cavalry unit but they couldn't ride horses until after plebe training. They spent six weeks marching everywhere they went in formation.

When officers weren't around Vince could relax a little. He made some friends but he still wasn't doing well in school and he only talked about leaving.

Vince was instructed to walk down the hallway with a trash can on his head and salute all the exit signs. When he didn't salute at the appropriate times he was told to do more push-ups.

As the hazing continued, Vince was instructed to clean the bathroom until it gleamed as brightly as the officer's shoes. He was sent back four times and failed four times. This was more discipline than he had ever experienced.

During the six-week 'plebe' training, Vince is singled out and instructed in proper push-up technique.

A picture of despair, Vince tried to adjust to his new haircut at the academy. This is the first step in breaking the cadet down until he no longer questions authority.

Vince was dubbed 'Amoeba Rambo' by his staff seargent because he was the smallest of the group. Part of the hazing process is to stand at attention with your chin 'racked' (tucked in) until your sgt. says you can stop.

The only responsibility Vince took for leaving for military school was to pack his heavy metal tapes. The tapes were confiscated the first day.
