In Peking, a group from Shantung province staged a demonstration in late January to protest alleged violations of rights in their province. The group marched from Tian-anmen Square to the Communist party headquarters nearby, as police redirected traffic to clear a path for the group. The banners appeal to Premier Teng Hsiao-ping for human rights and democracy.
