Police, firemen, paramedics, and volunteers worked quickly to evacuate hundreds of people who were pinned down hiding from the sniper's fire. After thirty minutes, fifty persons were wounded, including six policemen, and two people were dead. The shooting finally stopped when the 64-year-old sniper took his own life.
