A Liberian freighter rammed into an abutment of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge and a 1,200-foot section fell into Tampa Bay carrying with it a bus-full of passengers, three cars and a pick-up truck. The bridge had been hit three times in four months. The driver of the car resting precariously at the edge of the broken span missed following the others.
