There was little romance in riding the rails when the train entered the 7-mile-long Moffat Tunnel at the Continental Divide. As they choked on diesel smoke trapped in the tunnel, Beller worried about a problem that faced his depression-era counterparts, the 'bull,' as railroad police are known.
