French president, Francois Mitterrand, in dark coat, pays homage Wednesday to the 58 French soldiers who died last Oct. 23 in Beirut during bombing attacks on the U.S. and French peacekeeping forces in Lebanon at a ceremony in the courtyard of the Invalides, the national veterans shrine and Napoleon's burial place. The coffins are covered with a French flag and a red beret.
