Jennifer takes Kate's temperature in their bedroom, during a day when Kate felt sick, complaining of an upset stomach and a slight fever. Kate's weekend had been filled with emotional upsets, including informing her mother of Jennifer's pregnancy. Kate's mother and father live about 300 miles away, while Jennifer's family is from the Midwest.
