Caption/Description
In the heartland of Byzantium, villages still exist where life goes on almost as it did under the Empire. In the Greek Island community of Olymbos, agriculture and religion, customs and the people, are scarcely different from those who lived there a thousand years ago. Isolation has kept Olymbos much as it was when it was first built on its present sight 9th cent. A.D.
