Anglican Bishop and Nobel Prize laureate Desmond Tutu hugs Winnie Mandela, wife of the imprisoned South African dissident and black leader Nelson Mandela, at her home in Soweto, on a visit one evening. Winnie Mandela, whom Bishop Tutu calls “the first lady of South Africa,” is currently banned from entering Soweto and from living in the home where this photograph was taken.
