Caption/Description
The rope holding Japanese dancer Yoshiyuki Takada breaks and he begins a six-story fall to his death before hundreds of stunned spectators in downtown Seattle during a noontime performance on Sept. 10, 1985. The performance, known as a “dance of life and death,†was to have featured four men, each lowered separately from the roof of the Mutual Life Building by ropes attached at their ankles.
