On January 30, 1985, after a decade of life on Florida’s death row, James Raulerson was executed for the shooting death of a Jacksonville policeman. Across the yard from the prison, many fellow Jacksonville officers watched and applauded the electric chair execution. This story attempts to show the steps taken in executing an inmate as well as the people involved. Since the early 70’s cameras were not allowed on death row--the pictures of Raulerson were shot by concealing the camera. Front entrance to Florida State Prison. Raulerson passes time in his cell.
