Caption/Description

Water, water everywhere! A light rain that started Sept. 17th was followed by two weeks of steady downpour that created “twice-in-a-century” flood levels in the Des Plaines River Basin in Cook County, IL. Waters forced 3,300 families from their homes and caused $40 million in property damage. National Guardsmen and volunteers piled sandbags to provide some protection.
