Caption/Description
In May, on a warm, clear day in San Salvador, an earthquake shook the city and barrios in the countryside, toppling concrete buildings, causing landslides and killing people. More trouble had landed on the country of El Salvador, already in a civil war against the U.S.-backed government of President Duarte. The aftermath left the people stunned--many waiting for services that never were delivered, including food, water and medical attention. Here, Salvation Army doctors work on an earthquake burn victim.
