Story Summary, The Plebiscite which precipited the doom of General Pinochet was unquestionably the greatest political event in Chile in the last 15 years. The days following the vote, the country waivered in political turmoil as thousands demanded the immediate removal of the dictator. Pinochet still remains in power, but he promised to hold a free election within the next 18 months. If this promise is going to be kept or not remains to be seen.
