In the dark and the wet of the sleeping sickness ward, the intrusive spinal taps have been done to determine the stage of a mother and child's sleeping sickness infection. Soon the injections of arsenic will begin. But instead of cringing in fear or protesting, the woman smiles and welcomes these treatments. She and her baby can be saved.
