Caption/Description
The Mississippi Delta is a land of poor people with a deep cultural spirit, a land where the ghosts of the past still seem to be ever present, where wooden churches and cotton gins dot the landscape and the blues music that has historically defined hard lives and hard times. Throughout the region one sees an enduring legacy of segregation and poverty and wonders why things have not improved-Mississippi has become a symbol of the failures of American society.
