Picture taken outside the Lewisburg (PA) Federal Penitentiary of Alger HIss when he emerged after serving three years and eight months of his five-year sentence for perjury in denying he passed secret government documents to the Soviet Union. He reiterated his innocence and vowed to clear his name. With him are his son, Anthony, and his wife Priscilla.
