The world's best athletes assembled in Barcelona for 16 days of competition and friendship during the Olympic games. More than 10,000 athletes from a record of 172 nations, some which did not exist four years ago, met there amidst hopes and dreams. United States diver Mary Ellen Clark, 29 years old, wins a bronze medal in the women's 10 meter platform competition at the Barcelona Olympics.
