In China there are 12 million patients with serious mental disorders and are hospitalized in 444 lunatic asylums. The government, under the Department of Medical Administration and the Rehabilitation Division for the Aged, controls the nationwide sanitary work done in the asylums. The staff that controls the division is made up of five employees.
