Caption/Description
Two workers at a brick factory raise plumes of dust, digging newly fired bricks from a flaming pit in the same way ancient Harappans made bricks 5,000 years ago. Building cities where stone is scarce, bricks have always been made in uniform proportions for the foundations of ancient cities they raised high above the floodplains of the Indus River in Pakistan.
