Afghan Women’s Harsh Reality

When a woman dared to step out of line, she was beaten with sticks, then with the empty boxes which earlier contained precious cooking oil at a food distribution in Kabul, Afghanistan. Hundreds of women waited for hours to take home one gallon of the oil and were beaten for their trouble. Women occupy a lowly status in Afghanistan and were often beaten for seemingly minor offenses.
