5.17.2003 'Quinceanera' Vanessa Paniagua, 15, (cq) places flowers at the altar of the Virgin Mary during her 'quinceanera' at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in San Jose, California. 'Quinceaneras' mark the coming of age of a young woman, specifically when she turns 15, and are a tradition in the Mexican-American community in the Bay Area with families sometimes spending almost as much on them as for a wedding.
