This eerie illustration is the perfect 'mood picture' for the Los Angeles Examiner murder story it accompanied. An unidentified man, his throat cut, had been found in a ditch beside a lonely road, his automobile, a few yards away. Detectives, enshrouded in fog, add a touch of mystery as they probe the darkness with their flashlights.
