GOLDEN GIRL - The summer began well for Carly Patterson. She got her driver's license and her braces off. But it was in Athens where Patterson went from hopeful teenager to gymnastics legend. She jumped into the arms of her coach and the dreams of every young gymnast. She became a household name, an American icon, the next Mary Lou. GOLDEN GIRL - TRAIN -- In the gym at WOGA, six-year-olds learn the basics of the balance beam as Carly Patterson, left, practices her floor exercise during her final workout before leaving for the 2004 Olympic Games.
