Ed and Gary share a rare moment together at the kitchen table on Saturday morning, while Kiki is in the bathroom. The mundane reality of their lives, they say, might surprise even the most fervent opponents of same-sex marriage. I think that in a small way, we are activists just by living our lives,' says Gary. 'Our family structure, we're not hiding it from anyone,' says Ed. 'We go out in the world... (and) we're sort of teaching everyone that yeah, two guys can raise a little girl and they can do all the same stuff you're doing and it's normal. There's nothing to be afraid of with this sort of family structure.' 'To me,' says Gary, 'the message is, look at our boring lives.'
