J. Parke Randall, 33, an architect, took this tragic series which made the front page all over the world. Two persons were killed and 70 were injured when the 40-foot aluminum tower toppled toward the track during one of the most exciting moments of the annual race. Photograph series received a special recognition in the Pictures of the Year contest.
