Caption/Description
Taliban Influence - A painting outside a cinema is defaced to appease Islamic extremist sensibilities in Mingora November 18, 2007 in the Swat Valley of Pakistan. According to conservative Islamic clerics, depictions of living creatures, specifically showing faces, is prohibited by the holy Koran. Islamic militants had taken over much of the scenic valley before the Pakistani army launched an offensive late in 2007 to drive them out.
