Iraq - Progress At A Price - Morning Chill - A U.S. Marine wakes another for his turn on guard duty as Marines spoon for warmth while sleeping in a house captured by American and Iraqi forces during an operation in Ramadi January 17, 2007 in the Anbar province of Iraq. The combined forces swept into Ramadi under the cover of darkness and began searching neighborhoods for insurgents. Ramadi, one of the most dangerous places in Iraq for U.S. forces at the beginning of 2007 became much safer by the end of the year, as the Americans began working with local Sunnis against Al Qaeda.
