Afghanistan is suffering a resurgence of violence in the past two years as Taliban insurgents have stepped up their attacks on coalition forces and the civilian population. According to a recently release UN report, the Taliban carried more than 100 suicide attacks in the first 8 months of 2007 alone, killing more than 200 people, 80% of them civilians.
