Caption/Description

Mani Sateri, 21, tries to stop troops from removing her people with her one year old child on her hip. Her husband and 400 other tribe members are squatting on a rural sector between the cities of Itacoatiara and north of Manaus in the state of Amazonas. A group of local natives, the Satere, took over a property illegally, which is owned by a Japanese citizen who asked the police to intervene in removing the natives from his property. The police arrested Sateri after knocking her down and shooting her in the leg. Her baby and her husband were injured and detained as well.
