After calling a ceasefire Georgian forces have withdrawn from South Ossetia with Russian forces firmly in control in the disputed region. Both sides have accused one another of atrocities and continued attacks. Russian forces are reported to be entering Georgia via the breakaway Abkhazia region in western Georgia.
