An Iraq woman walks past a U.S. patrol in souhthern Baghdad. Cautious not to make new insurgents, soldiers try to knock on doors rather than kicking them down. Winning over the people is the main order of business, and doing that requires “soft power” — not tanks and bullets. But the stress of home searches and constant patrols take a toll. 'You can't tell who the enemy is,' complains a soldier.
