Daryl Crookston, 18, struggles to pull himself under a maze of barbed wire as he completes one of the many obstacles involved with the crucible, a feared 72-hour mental and physical test for Marine Corps recruits during boot camp. Each recruit is evaluated on their performance during every step of the way and if they make it through the crucible there is a high likelihood that they will make it through boot camp and become Marines.
