Krishnavenis work is to take care of unknown dead bodies found along the streets or in the hospital in Pondicherry, India. Her 14-year old son Shankar (in the bed) helps her burying the bodies. Krishnaveni is raising her three sons alone and she lives in a small hut made of straw in Pondicherry. She is trreated very badly by her fellow citizens because her profession is regarded as very unclean and is often being beaten up. She took over the job from her husband who has died. Her father had the same job and Shankar is going to take over the job from his mother. Her two youngest sons go to school.
