Awadkesh Kumar, 24 years, was acting as a leader for the untouchables community in his village in Bihar, India. Repeatedly members of the community were herrassed by the caste citizens, who shouted caste discriminating names after them in the stret. It culminated in a quarrel which he as leader tried to solve. At first he managed to calm down the parties but at last a group of brahmins shot him. He was hit in the head and both his eyes were damaged. As the only provider in the family (his father died when he was a kid) he is unable to fullfill his duties. The family relies on help from their neighbours. he hasn´t received any compensation from the perpetrators. The case has been filed at the policestation and he is hoping for a sentence that will bring justice to the perpetrators.
