TORONTO, CANADA, 2008. The trip to Canada was a convoluted one. Kimberly and her husband packed up their old car with their children and what clothes they had and drove around for weeks, not sure if they were doing the right thing, before they reached the border. Finally they crossed into Canada and lived in a safe house, before arriving in Toronto, where they live now. They like Canada, but with the laws changing, Kimberly lives in fear of deportation and imprisonment. And they are oftentimes homesick. “I mean,” she says, “who doesn’t want to go home?”
