Nationalist police, just before abandoning Shanghai to the Chinese Communist armies, executed a number of Communist prisoners. Nationalist police watch impassively as one of their number fires a bullet into the brain of a Communist agent. The pavement is already darkened with the blood of another prisoner similarly executed seconds before.
