Boarding homes are not peopled solely by the elderly. They are the home for a widely diverse age group, from young schizophrenics, just beginning their downslide, to the hopelessly chronic old timers. For the most part they spend their days sleeping or simply sitting in the lobby, staring. When the weather is nice, they sit on the porch.
