George is 67, and dying of cancer. He lives in a cheap downtown Denver hotel with Helen, his common law wife. They met a dozen years ago at a mental hospital. Helen, her mind a muddle of confusion and fear, spends most of her nights sleeping on the couch in the lobby downstairs.
