The Mirage Tavern was owned and operated by a Chicago newspaper for the purpose of documenting graft, extortion and tax skimming. Two investigative reporters and two photographers worked undercover for four months. The fire inspector, the building, plumbing, ventilation and liquor inspectors were documented taking bribes.
