Caption/Description

At Grande Riviére in Marinique, the afternoon sun spreads a glow over the fishing boats of the Carob Indians. Named gommiers for the gum trees from which they are hewn, these boats enable the fishermen to travel as far as twenty miles offshore in their search for the tuna, king mackerel, and dolphin from which they make their livelihood.
