May 4, 1979 was the last time Arthur Fiedler rehearsed with the Boston Pops. Thin, tired, with all the signs of life slipping away, the famous maestro holds the baton for the last time, with firmness and vigor as he did it for 50 years. Arthur Fiedler never retired.
